A two-time all-region and all-conference selection, Brazil native Thayna Silva joins the Marauders from the Seward County Community College program. She burst onto the scene in 2012 as one of the top players in the Jayhawk Conference, finishing 3^rd in the league in kills and 4^th in digs as a freshman to earn first team All-Jayhawk West and All-Region VI honors. After a knee injury forced Silva to miss the 2013 season, she returned to finish second on the team in kills (2.80/set) and third in digs (3.65/set). One of just two players in the league to finish the season in the top five in the Jayhawk Conference in kills and in the top ten in digs, she ranked second among non-libero's in the league in digs with 522. Following her sophomore season in 2014, Silva was named to the All-Jayhawk West second team and the All-Region VI second team. A team captain as a sophomore, Silva was a three-time Jayhawk West Player of the Week and made two all-tournament teams. Thayna is the daughter of Lucilene Dos Reis and Francisco Raimundo da Silva and will pursue a degree in Business Administration at U-Mary.
