NEXT WEEK: Mary will play one more road game on Nov. 19 against Presentation College at 2 p.m. before its Nov. 20 home opener against Lake Superior State. Tip-off is set for 1 p.m. at the McDowell Activity Center.
THE SERIES: Mary is 0-2 against Pittsburg State dating back to 2012. The Marauders and Gorillas faced off first in 2012 when PSU won the matchup 80-60 and three years later, Mary lost 62-49 at home. The Marauders are in a little bit of unfamiliar territory when they play the Ichabods. Mary and WU have only met once and that was in 2015 when the Blue & Orange suffered a 63-50 loss to the Ichabods.
ABOUT PITTSBURG STATE: The Gorillas went 29-6 last season with a 18-4 record in the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association conference. PSU returns three student-athletes that played over 25-plus a game last season in Mikaela Burgess, Paige Lungwitz anf Hadyn Herlocker. As a sophomore, guard Burgess led the Gorillas in points per game with 17.8, however, she's the only player that returns for PSU that averaged double-digits in points per game last season.
ABOUT WASHBURN: The Ichabods went 15-14 last season with a 11-11 record in the Mid-American Intercollegiate Athletics Association conference and ended the season on a three-game losing streak. Seven seniors return for their final season with WU as four of its top five scores from last season return. Last year Alyxis Bowens led the team in scoring with 11.5 points per game while shooting 55.3 percent from the field. Guard Erika Lane was the only WU player to start every game last season returns for her senior season. A total of 10 players return for the Ichabods. WU was selected to finish third in the 2017-2017 MIAA Preseason Coaches Poll.
