Marauders Suffer 3-0 Loss to No. 3 Concordia-St. Paul

BISMARCK, N.D. - Janell Finkbeiner finished with 24 assists as the University of Mary fell to No. 3 Concordia-St. Paul 3-0 (set scores, 25-23, 25-8 and 25-13) Saturday, Oct. 22 inside the McDowell Activity Center.
 
Finkbeiner now has 772 assists on the year and 2,327 for her career. She is second on the all-time assists list for the Marauders in the Division II era, nine assists behind leader Emily Turkowski.
 
The Golden Bears (20-2, 12-2 NSIC) dominated in all facets of the match as CSP posted a .380 hitting percentage, recorded nine total team blocks and 39 digs.
 
Anna Schlaak finished with a match-high nine kills and teammate Riley Hanson added six more and hit .625 in the match. CSP's Emily McDonough collected a match-high 11 digs.
 
The Marauders (9-14, 4-10 NSIC) hit a team-high .316 in the first set and hung with the No. 3 team in the country but dropped the first set 25-23 and the Golden Bears changed gears and controlled the final two sets.
 
Lauren Randall and Thayna Silva finished with eight kills each as teammate Rachel Astrup added five more but offensively the Marauders finished with just a .084 team hitting percentage after hitting in the negatives in the final two sets.
 
Geovana Almeida posted a team-high eight digs and the Marauders finished with four total team blocks. 
 
It was the seventh time the Marauders have been shutout this season and the 17th time this season that the Golden Bears shutout its opponent.
 
Up next for the Marauders is two-match road trip against NSIC opponents No. 6 Winona State on Friday, Oct. 28 and Upper Iowa on Saturday, Oct. 29.
