Lauren Randall finished with a match-high 24 kills but Minnesota State University Mankato found its groove late in sets to capture the 3-1 (25-21, 17-25, 25-27 and 27-29). victory Friday, Oct. 21.

The Marauders (9-13, 4-9 NSIC) won the first set and had a lead in the second set but the Mavericks found ways to finish off sets. The final two sets went passed the 25-point mark as Minnesota State scored 27 points in the third set and 29 in the final set.

Minnesota State (10-11, 4-9 NSIC) hit a match-high .542 in the second set as a team and .269 for the match. Mary found success in the first set with a .394 hitting percentage but that percentage declined in the following two sets.

The Mavericks were tough around the net finishing with 15 total blocks to the Marauders four.

Krista Hassing led the way for Minnesota State with seven block assists and a team-high 19 kills while hitting .548 for the match. Teammate Anissa Janzig led the team with eight block assists. Morgan Olson also finished with double-digit kills with 15 for the visiting team.

Randall hit .315 in the match and added eight digs as teammate
Janell Finkbeiner finished with 42 assists.

Defensively, the Marauders were led by Geovana Almedia who finished with 16 digs as
Thayna Silva added 12 more. Silva also tagged on 19 kills for the Marauders.

With the loss, the Marauders drop to 4-9 in the Northern Sun and are tied for eighth place with two other teams.

The Marauders will try to bounce back at 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 22 against No. 3 Concordia-St. Paul (19-2, 11-2 NSIC) inside the McDowell Activity Center.
