FARGO, N.D. – A season-best effort by
William Kaigler earned the junior the University of Mary men's indoor track & field team's lone win at the Thundering Herd Classic. Two other Marauders claimed runner-up status.
A junior from Tracy, Calif., Kaigler sailed 46' in the triple jump. His best mark of the year captured the event by 2.25".
Joe Berger tied the for the best mark in the high jump but took second on the tie-breaker. The junior from Mandan, N.D., cleared the bar at 6' 6".
Chris Jessop placed second in the seeded one mile run with a time of 4:20.29. The senior from Corvallis, Mont., missed his career-best time by less than half a second (.44 seconds).
Several other Marauders also had strong showings at the Thundering Herd Classic.
Jay Cooper placed fourth in the 60 meter hurdles, clearing the barriers in 8.46 seconds.
Nathan Inkman grabbed fifth in the 1,000 meter run with a mark of 2:36.70. Right behind in sixth was
Steven Gordon (2:38.64).
In the seeded 3,000 meter run,
Thomas Neale placed fourth in 8:55.17.
Jensen Roseboom claimed fifth in the pole vault with an effort of 14' 7.25". He tied for the third best height but dropped on the tiebreaker.
Taren Staudinger was fifth in the long jump, sailing 21'.
U-Mary next competes at the South Dakota State University Invitational on Feb 13.
