School Record by Jessop Highlights Marauders Efforts at SDSU Indoor Classic

BROOKINGS, S.D. - A new school record by Chris Jessop highlighted the University of Mary men's indoor track & field efforts at the South Dakota State University Indoor Classic.

Jessop, a senior from Corvallis, Mont., placed fifth in the 5,000 meter run. He covered the distance in 14:46.43 to set a new U-Mary record.

The Marauders had two top-10 efforts in the triple jump. William Kaigler took sixth after covering 13.75 meters in his best effort of the day. Jerrod Shaffner was 10th after leaping 13.38 meters.

In the weight throw, Travis Gavin's top heave of 15.83 meters placed him 8th.

Jay Cooper cleared the 60 meter hurdle barriers in 8.58 seconds to finish 8th overall in the event.

In the 800 meter run, Nathan Inkman claimed 11th with a time of 1:56.47. There were 88 runners entered in the event.

Dustin Reub placed 12th in the high jump with a top mark of 1.89 meters. His height tied for 10th but the tiebreaker dropped him.

Jensen Roseboom tied for 11th in the pole vault after skying 4.35 meters for his best mark of the day.

Next up for the Marauders is the BSU Alumni Meet on Feb. 20 in Bemidji, Minn.
