Jordan Pearce continued his torrid pace with three goals and
Christoffer Nogueira added two of his own en route to a 6-3 victory over South Dakota School of Mines in their Great Northern opener.

Nogueira struck first for the Marauders as he opened up the match with a goal coming at 10:11 in the first half. The Hardrockers would finally respond at 17:01 to tie the score at 1-1 after two shots were blocked and another missed high. Pearce responded quickly as his first shot found the back of the net at 19:33 to put U-Mary up 2-1.

It was the closest the Hardrockers would get for the rest of the game.

The Marauders kept the pressure up and
Aaron Brennan notched his only goal of the game at 33:37 before Pearce nailed his second goal three minutes later at 36:02. U-Mary held onto the lead at 4-1 going into halftime.

The Hardrockers wouldn't go quietly in the second half as they registered their second goal at 51:21 to narrow the Marauder lead at 4-2. U-Mary could not be contained, though, as Nogueira netted his second goal of the game at 54:08. The Marauders would trade shots with the Hardrockers through most of the second half but not before Pearce found the back of the net for the third time at 87:37. South Dakota School of Mines would register a third goal at 88:44, but U-Mary had the game in hand long before the clock reached zero.

Pearce's three goals came on six shots with three shots on goal. Nogueira earned his two goals on four shots with three shots on goal. In addition to his one goal, Brennan finished with one assist, four shots and three shots on goal.

Brad Kelly earned two assists and
Adam Potter earned one of his own as the Marauders exhibited their balanced attack.

Michael Frenzel started in the net for U-Mary and finished the game with three goals allowed and two saves in 90 minutes of action.

The Marauders will return home on Sept. 25, to compete against Seattle Pacific in U-Mary's home opener.
