Box Score The University of Mary took on Southwest Baptist over the weekend to finish out the GNAC/MIAA Challenge.

The Marauders were looking to feed off their performance from Friday against #23 Fort Hays State hoping to secure their first victory of the season.

U-Mary struck fast and early against the Bearcats, with
Christoffer Nogueira finding the back of the net at 5:10 into the match, and
Aaron Brennan adding a goal of his own less than three minutes later at 8:05.

With a two-goal deficit coming so soon in the match, the Bearcats would be stuck trying to catch up to the Marauder attack. They would respond with a goal coming at 27:11 to narrow the margin to 2-1.

Not letting the Bearcats find a rhythm, the Marauders would extend their lead back to two goals after a strike from
Jordan Pearce would hit home at 39:24. U-Mary would carry the 3-1 lead into the half.

Pearce would keep up the torrid pace for the Marauders as he earned his second goal of the match at 64:49 to extend the lead 4-1. The Bearcats would have their last gasp at 85:10 with their second goal of the game but it would not be enough as Brennan punctuated the match with a late goal at 88:59 to cap the game at 5-2 in favor of the Marauders.

Pearce earned his two goals from a team leading eight shots with four shots on goal. In addition to his two goals, Brennan also earned an assist while finishing the match with five shot and two shots on goal. Nogueira rounded out the Marauder attack with his goal coming on six shots and three shots on goal as well as finishing with one assist.

Adam Potter,
Aaron Mc Elwee, and
Alex Boyes all finished with one assist as U-Mary demonstrated its diverse attack front.

Jack West started in the goal for the Marauders as he finished the game with three saves and moved his record to 1-0-1.

U-Mary will take on the Hardrockers of South Dakota School of Mines in Rapid City, S.D., on Friday, Sept. 19, as the Marauders open up the conference schedule.
