Clean sweep of Bemidji State gives U-Mary seventh straight NSIC win

The Marauders haven't lost a conference game since Feb. 15

BEMIDJI, Minn.—The University of Mary tennis team (10-4, 9-1 NSIC) won its seventh consecutive Northern Sun match Saturday afternoon with a 9-0 win over Bemidji State University (6-6, 3-5 NSIC).
 
Sarah Janes continued her dominance for the Marauders winning her seventh consecutive match at No. 2 singles (6-4, 6-2) and her fourth straight match with partner Catherine Gibbens at No. 1 doubles (8-1). Janes has now won nine of her last 10 singles matches.
 
U-Mary won all six singles matches. Hallie Welk won her fifth straight match at No. 1 singles 6-4, 6-2.

The Marauders won all three of the doubles matches. After snapping their eight-match winning streak at No. 2 doubles yesterday against Winona State, Welk and Kate O'Connell bounced back with an 8-4 win today.

With their fifth straight win overall, U-Mary has set a program record with nine NCAA wins. Winners of their last seven conference matches, the Marauders have also set a program record with nine NSIC wins.

U-Mary will be back in action tomorrow as it takes on University of Minnesota Crookston in Grand Forks, N.D. at 9:30 a.m. in its conference finale. With a win tomorrow the Marauders will secure second place in the NSIC standings.
