Box Score 2 Clermont, Fla.—An offensive onslaught coupled with dominant starting pitching led the University of Mary Softball team to a pair of wins Wednesday at the Dot Richardson Spring Games. U-Mary opened with an 8-0 run-rule victory over College of Saint Rose and concluded with a 7-1 win over University of Findlay.
 
The Marauders had 21 hits on the day including five home runs and four doubles. U-Mary's pitchers combined for 11 strikeouts and allowed just six hits as both went the distance for the Marauders.
 
Francine Villalobos and 
Allison Brown paced the Marauders offense. Villalobos went 5-for-5 with a home run, three runs scored and three RBI. Brown was 6-for-7 with two home runs, two doubles, five runs scored and three RBI.
 
Game 1: U-Mary 8 Saint Rose 0
 
A pair of two-run home runs keyed U-Mary's offensive attack as it cruised to an 8-0 run-rule victory over Saint Rose in five innings to open the day. Brown hit a two-run home run in the second, and 
Taylor Mendez put the run-rule in effect with a two-run shot in the fifth.
 
Brown finished the game going 3-for-3 with two doubles, while scoring three runs and driving in two.
 
Three different players combined for the Golden Knights three hits. Six different players recorded a hit as the Marauders finished with 12 hits. U-Mary stranded just one runner to Saint Rose's five.
 
Brown started the game with a double down the left field line and was followed by a single off the bat of 
Alana Norman. With one out 
Julissa Perales hit a ball to the right side of the infield to score Brown. After an 
Amber Gamboa walk, 
Taylor Mendez followed with a double to right field to score Norman.
 
The Marauders added two more runs in the second as Brown homered to score Villalobos who singled.
 
With early run support, 
Cherlyn Trujillo was in top form striking out six through the first three innings. Trujillo pitched all five innings and allowed just three hits and finished with six strikeouts.
 
Already ahead 4-0 going to the bottom of the fifth, U-Mary's bats came alive. Brown started the inning with a double and Norman followed with an infield single. With one out, Perales doubled to left center to score Brown and Norman. Coming to bat with a 6-0 lead, Mendez blasted a two-run shot to center field to put the run-rule in effect.
 
Norman finished the game 2-for-3 with two runs and two stolen bases.
 
Game 2: U-Mary 7 Findlay 1
 
Behind three home runs and a complete game effort from freshman 
MeLanie Rodriguez, U-Mary picked up a 7-1 win over Findlay. Rodriguez pitched all seven innings and struck out five, while allowing just three hits.
 
Villalobos was a perfect 3-for-3 for the Marauders with a home run and three RBI.
 
U-Mary had nine hits to Findlay's three. Both teams committed one error. The Marauders stranded three to the Oilers six.
 
Brown led off the game with a single down the left field line. After Brown stole second and third, 
Kristin Ormsby drove her in with a ground ball to short with one out.
 
In the second inning freshman 
Amber Gamboa led off the inning with her first career home run. With one out Villalobos singled to left to score Mendez, who also singled to give the Marauders a 3-0 lead.
 
Brown led off the third inning driving the first pitch she saw over the center field fence putting U-Mary up 4-0.  However, Findlay answered in the bottom of the inning with a double and a single to get on the board.
 
Taking advantage of an extra out, Villalobos broke the game open in the fourth with her first career home run that scored 
Demaree Rodriguez, who reached on a two-out error.
 
U-Mary added a run in the seventh as Norman extended her hitting streak to 15 with an RBI single to center to score Villalobos, who led off the inning with a bunt single, to give the Marauders a 7-1 lead heading to the bottom of the seventh. Rodriguez shut the door on the Oilers striking out the final two in the final two batters in the seventh inning to preserve the victory.
 
Brown finished 3-for-4 with a home run and three stolen bases.
