Blazing Beavers Blow By Marauders

Box Score BEMIDJI, Minn. – Despite a season-high 23 points from Chris Mason, the University of Mary had no answer for the high-powered Bemidji State University offense. Brock Lutes scored 43 points for the Northern Sun North Division-leading Beavers and BSU rolled past U-Mary 90-77.
 
Mason hit three treys and knocked down 8-of-15 shots on his way to a team-leading 23 points. The junior swingman also posted five rebounds and two steals.
 
The Marauders were unable to slow Lutes. The junior guard made 8-of-11 shots behind the arc and was 17-of-24 overall from the floor. He also had three assists.
 
Jake Schalow also proved unstoppable. He scored 25 points, making 5-of-8 shots behind the arc and 9-of-12 overall. The guard also pulled down four rebounds and dished three assists.
 
While U-Mary (6-17 overall / 4-14 Northern Sun) shot a solid 45.9 per cent from the floor, BSU (17-5 / 14-4) made 58.2 per cent of its shots for the game, including a 66.7 per cent mark in the opening half as the Beavers raced to a 49-39 lead at intermission.
 
The top-shooting team in the Northern Sun, BSU also went 14-of-28 on trey attempts. U-Mary was 6-of-16. 
 
Two other Marauders also reached double figures. Marc Musungayi was 7-of-7 at the free throw line and scored 13 points. He also had eight rebounds. Germain Decoste scored 12 points, grabbed six boards and added two assists.
 
The Marauders now return home for their final homestand of the season, host Southwest Minnesota State University and the University of Sioux Falls on Feb. 14-15.
