FARGO, N.D.—The University of Mary tennis team (4-1, 4-1 NSIC) picked up a pair of Northern Sun wins Saturday. U-Mary opened the day with a 5-4 win over Upper Iowa University (4-3, 4-3) and concluded the day with a convincing 8-1 win over Minnesota State University Moorhead (2-2, 2-1).

Despite losing both No. 1 and No. 2, an all-around effort by Marauders led them to a 5-4 win over the Peacocks.

Catherine Gibbens won a tightly contested first set 7-6, before winning 6-3 to take her match at No. 3 singles. Slid down to a spot, Anastasia Bruss cruised to a 6-0, 6-0 win at fifth singles and Kate O'Connell won 6-0, 6-1 at No. 6 singles.
 
U-Mary's top doubles team of Sarah Janes/Catherine Gibbens fell, 8-6, but its No. 2 and No. 3 teams' won 8-4 and 8-2 respectively. O'Connell/Hallie Welk won their fourth consecutive match at No. 2 doubles and Anastasia Bruss teamed with Meredith Holt, who made her career debut for the Marauders, for a win at third doubles.

With a clean sweep at doubles and winning five of six singles, U-Mary cruised to an 8-1 win over MSU Moorhead.

Welk picked up a 6-4, 6-0 win at No. 1 singles and Janes won 6-0, 6-1 at No. 2 singles. Gibbens won the first set 7-6 at No. 3 singles, but lost the second 3-6 before winning 10-5 in the third. Holt picked up her first win of the season at No. 4 singles 6-2, 6-3 and Bruss improved to 4-1 after rallying from a 1-6 first set loss to win the final two sets 6-1, 11-9.
 
Janes and Gibbens won 8-6 at first doubles. Welk and O'Connell moved to 5-0 on the season with a 9-8 win at No. 2 doubles and Bruss and Holt won 8-4 at No. 3 doubles.
 
The Marauders will be in action next as they head to Florida for Spring Break to play four matches in six days. U-Mary will open the trip by taking on Ave Maria University on Mar. 3.
