HEAD COACHES
Josh Kotelnicki is just the fifth varsity head coach at the University of Mary as the Marauders begin their 27th season. Kotelnicki comes to U-Mary after serving as the associate head coach at NCAA FCS University of North Dakota for two seasons (2012-13) and as UND's defensive coordinator in 2013. A native of Litchfield, Minn., Kotelnicki won an NCAA Division II title as a player at North Dakota and has been on winning teams as a coach at the NCAA FBS, FCS, and Division II levels. After starting his coaching career at UND, he has also worked at Murray State, Truman State, and NCAA FBS Kansas State before returning to UND...  In his seventh season leading the St. Cloud State University football program, Scott Underwood has posted a winning record in each of his first six years and owns a career mark of 57-25 overall and 52-19 in Northern Sun games. He was named the 2011 NSIC Coach of the Year after leading the Huskies to a share of the conference title and getting SCSU to a second straight NCAA playoff berth. Underwood has taken SCSU to the NCAA playoffs in three of the last four year and is third all-time in wins at SCSU. The 1988 graduate of Augustana College was the SCSU defensive coordinator prior to earning the head job.

Over the last four seasons the Huskies are 33-14, including 15-6 at home, have twice qualified for the NCAA playoffs and won a share of an NSIC title. SCSU has not had the success this season as in the previous years, sitting with a 5-5 record overall and a 4-2 mark in the NSIC North. Offensively, Ledell White leads the Huskies with 757 yards rushing. He averaged 5.3 yards per carry and has scored seven TDs (6 rush, 1 receiving). WEEK TEN REWIND: #2 Bulldogs 53 Marauders 35
Zach Roberson passes for 408 yards and four touchdowns and Elby Pope caught 10 passes for 183 yards and two scores but the Marauders were unable to overcome a 27 point halftime deficit in a 53-35 loss at #2 University of Minnesota Duluth. The Bulldogs and Marauders traded early touchdowns with U-Mary scoring on a 13-yard pass from Ben Jolliffe to Zach Podoll on a fake field goal. The Bulldogs scored the next 26 points and entered halftime leading 34-7.
Refusing to roll over to the Bulldogs, the Marauders opened the second half by scoring three of the first four touchdowns. Podoll caught a 19-yard TD pass from Roberson - his second TD of the day - on the opening drive of the second half. After UMD scored again, Roberson tossed 20 yard scoring passes to Pope at the end of the 3rd quarter and to Jake East early in the fourth to pull the Marauders within two possessions at 41-28. Minnesota Duluth stemmed the U-Mary run with a 75 yard touchdown drive that claimed 5:09 on the clock. Continuing to push the Bulldogs, Roberson found Pope all alone on a fourth down play for a 65-yard touchdown pass at 7:03, closing the gap to 47-35. Once again the Bulldogs rebuilt their lead, posting the final points of the day on a Beau Bofferding 3 yard run at 4:49 to seal the game. Myron Baldoz-McArn had five grabs for 60 yards and VaShawn Pope caught four passes for 43 yards. Austin Bolton posted his best career numbers for U-Mary, making 14 stops, including six solo tackles. Troy Guptill had 2.0 tackles for loss and shared a sack. Jacob Parker had his third interception of the season. Logan Lauters ran for 147 yards and two scores to lead UMD and Bofferding had four touchdown runs on seven carries and totaled 44 yards. Drew Bauer ran for 70 yards and passed for 250 yards and two scores, completing 23-of-34 passes.

MEANINGFUL
Both U-Mary and SCSU enter Saturday with overall records of 5-5. One team will leave with a winning record for the season. A win for the Marauders would give U-Mary its first back-to-back winning seasons since 2006-07. A win for SCSU gives the Huskies seven straight seasons with a winning record.

HEY, DON'T I KNOW YOU?
Several members of the U-Mary coaching staff are very familiar with the St. Cloud State co-offensive coordinator from shared days at the University of North Dakota. Marauders head coach Josh Kotelnicki, defensive coordinator Jason Thier and offensive line coach Kyle Myers all coached at UND last season, where Huskies assistant coach Chris Mussman was the head coach. Additionally, Marauders offensive coordinator Tim Belmore coached with Mussman earlier at UND.

PRODUCTIVE POPE
In the nine seasons U-Mary has played NCAA Division II competition,  there have been just 14 times where a player has caught 10 or more passes in a single game. Elby Pope has reached double digit catches four times in his career, the most by any Marauders player during that span. He also has reached that plateau in each of his last three games. The senior team captain caught 11 passes for 169 yards and two scores against MSU Moorhead. He followed up against Northern State with 11 receptions for 129 yards. Against #2 Minnesota Duluth Pope posted 10 catches for 183 yards and two touchdowns. With 32 catches in the past three games for 481 yards and four touchdowns, Pope is now listed among the NSIC leaders in receptions (5th) and receiving yardage (7th). The Grand Forks, N.D., native has 63 catches for 849 yards and eight touchdowns. The all-around threat is now 9th in the nation and 2nd in the NSIC in punt return average (16.4 yards/return), 31st NCAA/2nd NSIC in all-purpose yardage (156.5 yards/game), 32nd NCAA / 5th NSIC in receptions/game and 36th NCAA / 6th NSIC in receiving yards. Additionally, Pope has scored nine touchdowns, caught two 2-point conversion, ran the ball eight times for 30 yards, completed 1-of-2 pass attempts for 51 yards, is averaging 20.7 yards/kick return, has four tackles (three solo) and a fumble recovery.

POPE 2ND IN CAREER RECEPTIONS AND YARDS
After catching double digit passes and reaching triple digits in yardage for the third straight game, Elby Pope is now second all-time in receptions  and receiving yardage at U-Mary. The senior wide receiver has 182 catches, trailing only Seth Maier with 191. With 2,582 career receiving yards, Pope only trails Jake Pfau (2,682 career yards).

UNSTOPPABLE
Since returning from an injury that sidelined him for six games, junior quarterback Zach Roberson has been unstoppable, passing for over 400 yards in three consecutive games. The Sonora, Calif., native opened the season by completing 32-of-57 passes for 366 yards and two TDs in a 19-18 win over Southwest Minnesota State. Though he was hurt in the contest, Roberson finished the game by hitting Jake East with the winning touchdown with 23 seconds left in the. He returned in a 52-45 win over MSU Moorhead in which he completed 27-of-45 passes for 460 yards and a school record-tying six scoring passes. He also ran for a touchdown. Against Northen State, Roberson was 29-of-46 for 409 yards and two scores. He again ran for a touchdown. Last Saturday at #2 Minnesota Duluth, Roberson completed 31 of 56 passes for 408 yards, four touchdowns and his first interception of the season on his 204th pass of the season. In the Marauders NCAA era, there seven instances of passing for over 400 yards in a game. Roberson is the first to do so in consecutive games. Craig Bagnell and Roberson have both passed for over 400 yards three times in his career and Blair Sandy did it once... For the year (four games), Roberson is completing 58.3 per cent of his passes for an average of 410.8 yards per game. He has thrown for 14 TDs, ran for two, and thrown just a single interception.

The native of Joliet, Ill., posted 10 tackles against Northern State University, including four solo stops. Last week at #2 Minnesota Duluth he registered 14 tackles, with six being solo.
