After coaching stints on the defensive side of the ball at the University of North Dakota, the University of Minnesota Crookston and Northland Community and Technical College, Kyle Myers takes over the Marauders offensive line in 2014.
“Kyle Myers is a great up-and-coming coach in our profession and I feel blessed that he is coming to U-Mary to coach our offensive line,” said Marauders head football coach Josh Kotelnicki. “Kyle took over our defensive line last year at UND and I was very impressed with the attitude and work ethic he instilled into that position group. He is a tireless recruiter and a family man who will represent our program well both on campus and in the community. Kyle is also highly organized which is something that is very important to me personally. We’re happy that he and his wife Olivia are coming to Bismarck.”
Myers spent the last two seasons at North Dakota (2012-13), his second stint at UND. After rejoining the staff in 2012 as outside linebackers coach, he was elevated to full-time status in 2013 as the defensive line coach for UND. He also began to oversee the recruiting process for the team.
Originally Myers joined the North Dakota coaching staff for the 2010 season as an assistant defensive backs coach, where he worked with both cornerbacks and safeties and coordinated the offensive scout team.
In between his time at UND, Myers was the defensive coordinator at Northland in 2010. He was also the special teams and recruiting coordinator. That season the Pioneers won the MCAC North Division championship for just the second time in 50 years and he was named the MCAC North Division Assistant Coach of the Year. He coached nine all-conference defenders and had two players earn NCAA Division I scholarships. The team set school records with 23 interceptions, five defensive touchdowns and 120 tackles for loss.
A native of Palmyra, N.J., Myers graduated from Palmyra in 2004 and would later help coach at his alma mater, assisting with the running backs and linebackers and serving as the junior varsity defensive coordinator.
Myers would then play three years at Minnesota Crookston (2007-09), where he was a two-year captain and a two-year starter at middle linebacker. He also saw time at running back, fullback, kicker and short snapper. Voted Best Leader by his teammates, Myers was invited to play in the All-American Bowl.
A 2008 Northern Sun all-academic team selection, Myers graduated from UMC in 2010 with a bachelor’s degree in sports and recreation management. He then began his college coaching career with the Golden Eagles in 2010, working with the cornerbacks. He also assisted in strength and conditioning.
Kyle and his wife, Olivia, have two sons named Jordan and Carter.
