Men's Soccer Opens Up Four Game Home Stand

This Week: The Marauders (2-4-1) return home for two conference games. They'll host Western Washington University (3-5-1) on Thursday, Oct. 9, and Simon Fraser University (3-3-2) on Saturday, Oct. 11.

Coverage: Live stats will be available at goumary.com/coverage

WWU: The Vikings are currently 3-5-1 overall after dropping a game to Seattle Pacific and defeating Saint Martin's in the previous week. Western Washington's leading scorer is #13 Jeremy Wentzel, who has registered three goals on seven shots. #19 Tye Hastings is right behind him with two goals on 20 shots, while three Vikings are tied with one goal apiece. Western Washington has been out-scored and out-shot by their opponents so far this year 13-8 and 122-84, respectively.  The Marauders will need to dominate ball control and keep the defensive pressure up in order to secure the victory. #00 Keegan Rogers has started every game in the net for the Vikings, racking up a 3-5-1 record while allowing 13 goals with 25 saves.  Roger's save percentage is rather low at .658 so expect Jordan Pearce, Aaron Brennan, and Christoffer Nogueira to continue their offensive pace.

SFU: The Clan are currently 3-3-2 overall after defeating Saint Martin's and losing to Seattle Pacific in the previous week. Simon Fraser's offense will feature the GNAC leader in goals, #9 Jovan Blagojevic, who has earned nine goals on 44 shots for the Clan. He will be helped by #12 Ryan Dhillon who has three goals of his own but also adds four assists to the mix. The Clan have out-scored and out-shot their opponents 19-14 and 147-82, respectively. The Marauders will need a complete game from the defense in order to keep the match close. #22 Brandon Watson will earn the start for the Clan as he has a 1-2-2 record for the season. Watson has allowed seven goals while making 13 saves for Simon Fraser. For the season he has a .650 save percentage which is about middle of the pack for a goal keeper. The Marauders offense will need to strike first and maintain a comfortable lead to deal with the reigning GNAC champions.

Next Week: The Marauders continue their homestand against Northwest Nazarene University on Thursday, Oct. 16, and Montana State University-Billings on Saturday, Oct. 18.

Last Week: U-Mary dropped two games on the road against MSU-Billings and Northwest Nazarene. The Marauders kept even with the Yellowjackets through most of the first half thanks to a goal from Aaron Mc Elwee, but came up short after MSU-Billings scored the go-ahead goal in the 58th minute to win 2-1. Against Northwest Nazarene, the Marauders had plenty of opportunities to keep the score close, but couldn't connect and eventually lost 2-0.
