Marauders Conclude Home Stand Starting Tonight versus Northwest Nazarene

This Week: The University of Mary (2-6-1) concludes their four game home stand with matches against Northwest Nazarene (9-2-0) on Thursday, Oct. 16, and Montana State University-Billings (4-4-3) on Saturday, Oct. 18.

Coverage: Live stats will be available at goumary.com/coverage

NNU: The Crusaders are coming off a 1-1 week, after beating Saint Martin's on the road they dropped a contested matchup to #4 Seattle Pacific. Erik Anderson and Fredy Razo lead the attack as Anderson has the most goals with eight and Razo is right behind with seven. Both are also tied for third on the team in assist with four, while Julio Castillo has the top spot with six. The Crusaders have an incredibly stingy defense as they have out shot their opponents 166-139 and have netted 25 goals while only giving up nine. Alfredo Ontiveros has only given up eight goals while making 49 saves en route to a 9-2-0 record with five shutouts. Christoff Nogueira, Jordan Pearce, and Aaron Brennan will need to keep the pressure up to secure the victory.

MSUB: The Yellowjackets split their matches in the previous week, first falling to #4 Seattle Pacific before defeating Saint Martin's. Jess Thorge is the leading scorer for MSU-Billings with six goals and two assists. There is a steady dropoff in goals after Thorge, as the player with the second most goals is Colin Ralston with three. The Yellowjackets are somewhat lacking on defense as they have been out shot 165 to 140 and are even on the year in goals scored versus goals allowed. Tom Lohmann gets the start in the net and has made 51 saves on the year en route to a 4-4-1 record with two shutouts. Michael Frenzel and the rest of the Marauder defense will need a stiff defensive front to keep the Yellowjackets on the ropes and pull off the victory.

Next Week: The Marauders are away for the next four games, the first two are next week on Thursday, Oct. 23, against Saint Martins, and Saturday, Oct. 25, against #4 Seattle Pacific.

Last Week: U-Mary lost two hard fought matches against Western Washington and Simon Fraser in the previous week. Western Washington squeaked out a victory against the Marauders after a controversial first half and carried a 1-1 tie into the 68th minute when the Vikings scored the go-ahead goal. Jordan Pearce had the long goal for U-Mary coming off a corner kick from Christoffer Nogueira. The Marauders then dropped at 3-1 contest to Simon Fraser in a game featuring the premier scorer in the GNAC.  U-Mary gave up two early goals and eventually netted one of their own after Ramsey Blahnik corralled the ball after a scramble in front of the net in the 71st minute.
