Box Score Bismarck, ND--Taking on Saint Martin's University (1-4, 1-0 GNAC) to open conference play, the University of Mary (0-3, 0-1) fell 1-0 in double overtime. With the score deadlocked through 107 minutes, U-Mary committed a red card giving the Saint's a penalty kick. CJ Chu connected on the shot to give SMU the victory.

Hayden Speaks made his presence known attempting seven shots, four of which were on goal. Unfortunately for Speaks, JJ Olson, SMU's goalkeeper, also made his presence known stopping all 11 shots he faced.

The first half was evenly matched as U-Mary held a 7-6 edge in shots and Saint Martin's held a 5-4 advantage in shots on frame. Neither team had a great look as the game headed to intermission scoreless.

The Marauders came out strong and controlled the second period. U-Mary dominated possession in the period and held a 9-3 edge in shots. The Marauders had four shots on goal in the second to the Saints one, but it was all for none as the game remained scoreless at the end of regulation.

U-Mary found itself with a corner attempt in the 93rd minute. The corner found Speaks, but Speaks missed high. With time expiring the Marauders had another good look, and
Rory Pratt looked poised to end the game. The Saints goalkeeper saved Pratt's attempt with just two second on the clock. Again U-Mary had an edge in both shots and shots on target.

Just as the came appeared to be heading towards a draw, SMU earned a corner kick in the 108th minute. With a crowd in front of the net,
Jack West came up with his ninth save of the night, but in the melee U-Mary was issued a red card that led to a penalty kick.

Chu lined up for the kick with 2:49 remaining in the game and beat West right for the game-winner. Â

U-Mary looks to rebound on Saturday as they host Seattle Pacific at 7 p.m. at the MDU Resources Community Bowl. The Marauders played the then #9 Falcons to a 1-1 draw in Bismarck last season.
