Bismarck, ND—With a win over Minnesota Duluth on Saturday, the University of Mary will clinch a Northern Sun postseason appearance for the first time since 2008. When U-Mary made the tournament in 2008 there were only eight teams in the NSIC and all eight participated in the tournament. Now with 13 teams participating, the top eight qualify for postseason play.
Originally scheduled to be played in Aberdeen, SD, U-Mary's match against UMD has been moved to Grand Forks and will begin at 8 a.m.
With 3-6 conference record (3-8 overall) the Bulldogs are on the brink of having their playoff hopes dissolved. Duluth would need to not only beat U-Mary, but also win their final two matches in order to have a chance to qualify for the NSIC tournament.
Sitting a 5-6 in the NSIC (6-6 overall) the Marauders are currently in eighth place in the conference. Playing in their final regular season match, U-Mary could qualify for the postseason tournament with a loss, but will guarantee a spot with a win.
