Marauders Fall 7-2 But Welk Keeps Winning

Hallie Welk has won 10 straight singles matches and nine straight doubles matches

St. Cloud, Minn.—Coming off a pair of wins on Saturday, the University of Mary tennis team stumbled against third place St. Cloud State (12-9, 7-1 NSIC) falling 7-2.
 
Despite U-Mary's struggles, Hallie Welk continued her dominant play. With a 7-6, 6-2 win at No. 2 singles, Welk has now won 10 straight matches. The Marauders only other win on the day came at No. 2 doubles as Welk and Rachael Scott picked up an 8-7 victory. The combination of Welk and Scott, have now registered nine consecutive doubles matches.
 
Welk finished the weekend with a perfect 6-0 record, between doubles and singles, for the second time this season. The last time Welk accomplished this feat she was named Northern Sun Player of the Week.
 
Already with a program record five Northern Sun victories (6-5, 5-5 NSIC) this season, the Marauders will have two more chances to add to that mark. On April 6 U-Mary will take on Upper Iowa in Spring Lake Park, Minn. The Marauders will finish up the regular season on April 13 against Minnesota Duluth in Aberdeen, S.D.
