Marauders Cruise by Mustangs 84-63

U-Mary started the game on a 16-0 run

Box Score Marshall, MN - The University of Mary women's basketball team scored the first 16 points of the game and rolled to an 84-63 road win at Southwest Minnesota State University (4-19, 2-15 NSIC). Ali Collins posted a double double with 22 points and 10 rebounds. 
 
Shaunna Knife added 15 points and Brittney Dietz scored 16 off the bench. Knife also added seven rebounds.
 
The Marauders outshot the Mustangs 47 to 37 on the night and held a 44-34 rebounding advantage. U-Mary was 8-23 from deep. The Marauders are now 8-0 when the attempt 20 or more three point shots.
 
In the first half the U-Mary started with a 16-0 run. SMSU was able to cut the lead down to five, but the Marauders entered the half up by 10. In the first half Dietz came up big finishing with 12 points on six of nine shooting. The Marauders shot 45 percent in the first half.
 
In the second half U-Mary was able to extend their lead to as many as 23 before winning 84-63. Collins scored 12 of her 22 points in the second half on five of six shooting.  The Marauders shot 50 percent in the second half.
 
The Marauders were impressive from the free throw line shooting 16-17 from the line. U-Mary took advantage of Southwest's mistakes as they held a 24-8 advantage in points off of turnovers. The Marauders also held an advantage in the paint at 44-34.
 
Laura Petersen was the only other Marauder in double figures with 10. Petersen also added four assists.
 
The Marauders improve to 14-9 overall and 9-8 in the Northern Sun North. U-Mary is one game back of first place in the North.
