Box Score Bismarck, N.D. — The University of Mary defeated Minnesota, Crookston 80-56 behind a career night by senior point guard
Ali Collins. Collins recorded the first Marauders triple double since U-Mary joined the NCAA in 2006. The Mandan native finished with 10 points and career-highs in rebounds (15) and assists (11).
The 5-9 guard becomes just the sixth player in the nation to record a triple double and the second in the Northern Sun.
Shaunna Knife and
Brittney Dietz led the Marauders in scoring with 16 points each.
Minnesota, Crookston (7-16, 4-15 NSIC) was led in scoring and rebounding by Katrina Moenkedick. The freshman forward finished with 11 points and 11 rebounds, seven of which were offensive.
For the game U-Mary only out shot UMC 44 to 37 percent, but the Marauders commanded the game from beyond arc out shooting the Golden Eagles 42 to 19 percent. U-Mary set a season-high in attempts with 31 and fell one shy of their season best in makes with 13. The Marauders are now 9-0 when they connect on 10 or more shots from deep. Transfer
Kelsey Peltier was 3-4 from deep in the game and is now shooting .535 for the season.
After going down 3-0 to start the game, U-Mary went on a 19-0 run. Knife scored seven of her game-high 16 points during the run. The Marauders were able to extend their lead to as many as 19 in the first half. Behind three, three-point baskets from
Taylor Luke, U-Mary went into intermission with a 45-30 lead.
With 14:49 remaining in the game Collins set up Dietz for her 10th assists of the game. After UMC missed the ensuing shot Collins corralled the rebound and completed the triple double. The Marauders controlled the second half building their lead to as many as 33 when redshirt freshman
Maddie Frederick hit her first three-point field goal. Crookston scored 12 of the next 15 points but U-Mary cruised to an 80-56 win.
Making seven of their 17 three-point attempts in the second half the Marauders held the Golden Eagles to just 1-11 shooting.
For the game U-Mary controlled the glass out rebounding Minnesota, Crookston 55-43. The Marauders also held a commanding 16 point advantage in bench points.
With 16 points in the game, Knife sits just three points shy of becoming the 13th player in U-Mary history to score 1,000 points. Collins is not far behind and with 17 can become the 14th 1,000 point scorer in Marauders history.
U-Mary (16-9, 11-8 NSIC) will be back in action tomorrow night as they host Bemidji State University. The women's game starts at 4 p.m. with the men to follow. The Marauders five seniors;
