Huskies Sled Past Marauders

Box Score St. Cloud, MN – Unable to execute offensively in the opening half, the University of Mary couldn't keep pace with homestanding St. Cloud State University in Northern Sun men's basketball. Behind eight players scoring eight or more points, the Huskies defeated the Marauders 80-55.
 
U-Mary (2-8 overall / 0-5 NSIC) jumped out to a 4-2 lead on two baskets by Devan Douglas before SCSU (8-1 / 4-1) scored 10 of the next 11 points to take the lead permanently. The Marauders hit just 8-of-23 shots in the opening half. The Huskies took advantage of the misfires and entered intermission leading 41-24.
 
Holding their own most of the second half, the Marauders managed to close within 16 points before the Huskies ballooned their lead to as many as 27 points late in the game.
 
The Marauders held a 35-30 edge in rebounding but the Huskies captured the advantage in most other categories. SCSU shot 50.9 per cent from the floor to 41.5 per cent for U-Mary. The Huskies outscored the Marauders 21-5 on points off turnovers and 32-16 in the paint.
 
Marc Musungayi led U-Mary with 11 points and seven rebounds. Douglas, Jalen Jaspers and Chris Mason each scored seven.
 
James Fort scored a game-high 13 points for SCSU. Off the bench Scott Stone had 12 points and Chris Larson added 10 with five blocks.
 
The Marauders now return home to host instate rival Minot State University on Friday, Dec. 20, at 8 PM.
