West Shutout Leads U-Mary Men's Soccer to Draw

Jack West picked up his second save of the season

Box Score Bismarck, ND—Playing its final home match of the season, the University of Mary men's soccer team played Montana State University Billings (3-9-5, 3-6-4 GNAC) to a scoreless tie in conference play Saturday afternoon.

Jack West led the way for U-Mary picking up his second shutout of the season stopping all five shots he faced. West has now allowed just one goal in his last 221 minutes.

The Marauders (2-10-3, 2-8-3 GNAC) took 18 shots, six of which were on target and the Yellowjackets took 14 shots, five of which were on target.

U-Mary had a chance to score in 31st minute when MSUB's goalkeeper picked up a yellow card prompting an indirect free kick inside the box for Aaron Mc Elwee. Mc Elwee's shot was saved and the Marauders scoring opportunity was thwarted.

Despite just three shots on goal between the two teams in the first period, both teams had scoring opportunities as they combined for 12 shots and nine corner attempts.

Both teams threatened in the second period putting three shots on goal each, but neither were able to capitalize as the match went into overtime.

The match marked the fourth home overtime game of the season and the second in as many games for U-Mary.

With U-Mary unable to capture the same magic as in its 2-1 overtime win over Northwest Nazarene on Thursday, the game ended in a scoreless tie.

Rory Pratt and Aaron Brennan each had two shots on goal for the Marauders.

U-Mary will play its final game of the season at South Dakota Mines on Nov. 9.
