U-Mary Men's Soccer to Raise Cancer Awareness and Honor Seniors in Final Home Stand

This will be the final home stand for six U-Mary seniors

Last Week the University of Mary men's soccer team was blanked 2-0 against Seattle Pacific. U-Mary tied with Saint Martin's University 4-4.
 
GNAC History was made in U-Mary's meeting with Saint Martin's on Saturday. Tied 0-0 at half the game eventually ended in a 4-4 tie. This is the first time in GNAC history eight goals have been scored in a half.
 
Career Firsts: Jordan Pearce had his first career multi-goal game in a 4-4 draw against SMU scoring in the 50th and 55th minutes to give U-Mary 2-0 lead. Rory Pratt had his first two assist game against the Saints assisting on the second and fourth goals.  Freshman Aaron Brennan also had a career day notching two assists, one on the first goal and one on the third, for the first time in his brief career.
 
This week U-Mary will play its final home games of the season this weekend as they host Northwest Nazarene University and Montana State University-Billings. U-Mary will take on Northwest Nazarene on Thursday at 7 p.m. and MSU-Billings on Saturday at noon.

The Records: Northwest Nazarene is 3-6-5 overall and 3-5-3 in GNAC play. The Crusaders have lost its last three matches. Montana State Billings in 3-9-3 overall and 3-6-2 GNAC play.  The Yellowjackets have lost three consecutive matches. U-Mary is 1-10-2 overall and 1-8-2 in GNAC play. The Marauders snapped a three-game losing streak with a tie last weekend.
 
Earlier this season U-Mary fell to MSU Billings 1-0 on the road. Tied at intermission, the Marauders surrendered a goal in the 58th minute. U-Mary fell to Northwest Nazarene 4-0 on the road earlier this season. The Marauders gave up two goals shortly before the break and were never able to recover en route to a 4-0 loss.
 
Last Year Northwest Nazarene defeated U-Mary both times the teams played. The Crusaders
defeated the Marauders 2-1 in Bismarck and 3-0 in Nampa, Idaho. MSU-Billings also defeated
U-Mary both times they played in 2012. The Yellowjackets stole a 2-1 overtime game in Bismarck,
but won convincingly 5-1 in Billings.
 
Time Change: The Marauders game on Saturday against the MSUB has been changed to noon.
 
Cancer Awareness: During the month of October the Marauders have been wearing pink socks at all of their home games. Thursday's match will serve as the culmination as U-Mary will host a Cancer Awareness Game. The Marauders will wear their pink sox and prior to the game show a brief video to raise awareness and honor those who are and have suffered with breast cancer. U-Mary will donate all of its ticket proceeds to the Bismarck Cancer Center.
 
SENIOR NIGHT
 
Prior to Thursday's match against the Crusaders, the Marauders will honor six players playing in the final home games of their careers. Jake Meyer, Brenan Millot, Rory Pratt, Kyle Roesler, Ramiro Rivera and Joe Wood will all conclude their U-Mary careers at the end of the season.
 
Meyer has appeared in 42 games while starting 26 over his four-year career. The 6-0 defender has three career goals. A physical education major, Meyer was twice named to the GNAC All-Academic Team.
 
Millot has appeared in 28 games while starting 17 over his four-year career. A 5-9 defender, Millot missed most of his junior season due to an injury.  Millot has one career assist. Millot is majoring in exercise science.
 
Pratt has appeared in and started in all 31 games of his two-year career scoring 12 goals and notching 4 assists. A 6-2 forward, Pratt was named First Team All-GNAC in 2012 and 2013 All-Academic. Pratt is a graduate student majoring in Management.
 
Roesler, a four-year starter, has appeared in 48 games while starting 41. A 5-9 defender, Roesler has two career goals and one assist. Holding the highest GPA in the GNAC for the second year in a row, Roesler is majoring in business administration
 
Rivera, over his two-year career, has appeared in 30 games while starting 21. A 5-5 defender, Rivera's only assist of his career came this season against Western Washington. An exercise science major, Rivera was named to the GNAC All-Academic team this season.
 
Wood has started 32 of the 40 games he has appeared in during his three-year career. Wood has six career goals and one career assist. A 6-1 midfielder, Wood is majoring in physical education.
 
THE OPPONENTS
 
NNU currently sits at fifth place in the GNAC. The Crusaders are led by Fredy Razo's league leading 16 points (7 goals & 2 assists). A junior forward, Razo is second in the GNAC with 51 shot attempts. A senior midfielder, Jamie Torres is leading the team with four assists. Goalkeeper Ryan Foo has started all 14 games in goal for NNU and has a 1.45 goals allowed average and has recorded three shutouts. For the season the Crusaders have been outscored 22-17. NNU's opponents have a 90-82 advantage in shots on goal.
 
MSUB currently sits at sixth place in the GNAC. A senior defender, Haley Klarich's four goals has led the way for the Yellowjackets.  A freshman forward, Jess Thorge has scored three goals and notched one assist this season, while leading the team with 36 shots. Eoin Hurley has started all 15 games in net for MSUB and recorded four shutouts on the season while maintaining a 1.64 goals allowed average. Montana State Billings has been outscored 26-16 on the season and opponents have a 91-68 advantage in shots on goal
 
Next weekend will be the final game of the season for the Marauders. U-Mary will South Dakota Mines on Nov. 9 at 7:30 p.m. in Rapid City, S.D.
