Men's Soccer Continues Road Trip

U-Mary's our game road trip ends with this weekend with Northwest Nazarene and MSU-Billings

Last Week: The University of Mary hit the road for its first conference away games of the season. U-Mary started the week with a 3-1 loss to Western Washington University. Alex Boyes scored the Marauders lone goal. U-Mary wrapped up the week with a 6-0 loss to #1 Simon Fraser University.

This Week: U-Mary wraps-up its four-game road trip this weekend with games against Northwest Nazarene University and Montana State University-Billings. The Marauders will take on the Crusaders on Thursday at 5:30 p.m. and the Yellowjackets on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. (CT).

Last Year: In 2012 Northwest Nazarene defeated U-Mary both times they played. The Crusaders defeated the Marauders 2-1 in Bismarck and 3-0 in Nampa, Idaho. MSU-Billings also defeated U-Mary both times they played in 2012. The Yellowjackets stole a 2-1 overtime game in Bismarck, but won convincingly 5-1 in Billings.

Northwest Nazarene: The Crusaders finished 2nd in the GNAC in 2012 with an 8-2-4 conference record and were selected to finish third in the 2013 GNAC Coaches Poll. NNU returns just five starters from a year ago, but among those starters is 2nd Team All-GNAC midfielder, Jaime Torres. A 5-8 senior, Torres scored five goals and had one assist in 2012. Torres has started all seven games for the Crusaders this season and scored one goal. Offensively Freddy Razo has led the NNU this season with six goals already. Defensively goalkeeper Ryan Foo has steadied the Crusaders allowing 1.43 goals per game. Foo was named GNAC Defensive Player of the Week for his efforts last weekend against Saint Martin's and Seattle Pacific. Last weekend Northwest Nazarene tied Seattle Pacific 1-1 and picked up their first win of the season on with a 2-1 decision over Saint Martin's. The Crusaders have been outscored 11-8 on the season good for 1-3-3 overall record, and  a 1-2-1 record in GNAC play.   

MSU-Billings: The Yellowjackets finished 4th in the GNAC in 2012 with a 7-5-2 conference record and were selected to finish fifth in the 2013 GNAC Coaches Poll. MSUB returns just six starters from a year ago, but among those returners are two 2012 GNAC Honorable Mention performers. The Yellowjackets defense is anchored by defender Cameron Lee and goalkeeper Eoin Emerick. Lee and Emerick have both started all eight games for MSUB and have held opponents to a 1.61 goals against average. Reserve forward Thorge Jess leads the Yellowjackets with two goals scored.  Last weekend MSUB fell 2-1 to Saint Martin's and 3-2 to Seattle Pacific. The Yellowjackets have been outscored 14-7 on the season good for an 0-6-2 overall record, and an 0-3-1 conference record. MSUB has defeated U-Mary the last 18 times they have played and hold a 23-6 lead in the overall series.


Next Week: U-Mary will return home from their two week road trip next week to host South Dakota School of Mines and Technology on Oct. 12 and #1 Simon Fraser University.
