Box Score Seattle, Wash—Looking to avenge a 1-0 loss to Seattle Pacific University (9-1-3, 7-0-3 GNAC) in Bismarck earlier this year, the University of Mary men's soccer team (1-10-1, 1-8-1) fell 2-0 on the road in GNAC action Thursday night.
Rory Pratt, U-Mary's top offensive threat, attempted three shots, but was unable breakthrough.
SPU's Blaine Carver scored the game-winner for the Falcons in the 20th minute from seven yards out.
U-Mary was outshot on the night 17-9, but both teams managed just two shots on goal.
Trailing 1-0 most of the match, the Marauders were not able to put a shot on target until the 62nd minute when
Aaron Brennan narrowly missed tying the game. Nineteen minute later Pratt also had a shot to tie the game, but SPU's Cody Lang corralled the attempt.
Lang finished with two saves and recorded his sixth shutout of the season for the Falcons.
Unable to put another scoring threat together, U-Mary allowed a goal in the 87th minute that put the match out of reach as the Marauders fell 2-0.
The hotly contested match featured a total of four cautions and 30 fouls.
U-Mary will be back in action on Saturday as they take on Saint Martin's University at 2 p.m. (CT).
