Box Score Bismarck, ND—Looking to build on Thursday night's tie against #3 Simon Fraser University, the University of Mary (1-9-1, 1-7-1 GNAC) took a step back as it fell to Western Washington University (7-3-3, 5-1-3) Saturday afternoon in GNAC action. Western Washington scored just before half and it went on to win by a final of 3-1.
 
In the first period Western Washington had a 9-8 edge in shots and 5-3 advantage in shots on goal. U-Mary had a commanding 8-2 advantage in corner kicks, but were unable to capitalize.  The evenly matched opening stanza appeared to be heading to intermission scoreless, but the Vikings tacked one in in the 44th minute to take a 1-0 lead into the break.
 
Early in the second Western Washington put up another goal to take control of the game at 2-0.  All-GNAC First Team selection 
Rory Pratt answered in the 64th minute connecting on his third goal of the season off of a cross from teammate 
Aaron Brennan.
 
With the Marauders within striking distance, the Vikings scored an insurance goal in the 72nd minute when a missed shot by WWU was unable to be controlled and the rebound was knocked past U-Mary's 
Jack West. The goal gave Western Washington a 3-1 lead as it held on for the win. 
 
West finished with nine saves for the second consecutive game, tying his season-high.
 
Aaron Mc Elwee was active throughout the game attempting four shots, three of which were on goal.
 
U-Mary will head west next weekend to take on Seattle Pacific University on Oct. 24 and Saint Martin's University on Oct. 26.
