#2 Falcons Edge Marauders 3-1

Box Score Seattle, WA – Jonathon Sellars scored his first collegiate goal against the nation's second-ranked team but the lone University of Mary counter wasn't enough for the Marauders in a 3-1 loss at Seattle Pacific University.

Despite tonight's setback, the Marauders (2-3-1, 1-1 GNAC) had a successful first Great Northwest Athletic Conference road trip. U-Mary opened the West Coast swing with a 2-0 win at Saint Martin's on Thursday.

The #2 Falcons (6-0-0, 2-0-0) opened the scoring in the eighth minute when Christopher Morris scored on a header from seven yards out. It was the only goal the Marauders would allow in the opening half.

Taking advantage of a U-Mary miscue, SPU doubled its lead on a penalty kick in the 65th minute by Richie Evoy.

SPU sealed its win when Kyle Peterman scored eight yards out from the right corner inside the near post.

Sellars would put the Marauders on the board with just 18 seconds remaining in the game, scoring from the left side to the center of the net from nine yards out.

Michael Frenzel made five saves for U-Mary.

The Falcons held a 16-10 edge in shots on goal and an 8-2 advantage in shots on frame. SPU took eight corner kicks to three for U-Mary while the Marauders were called for 19 fouls to 18 for the Falcons.

U-Mary returns home to face Western Washington University on Thursday, September 20, at 8 PM, in the Marauders first-ever home conference game.
