Box Score Fayette, IA – A tight game throughout the first half turned into a second half rout as a young University of Mary men's soccer team dropped a 7-0 decision to a veteran Regis University side in the 2012 season opener. Playing in Fayette, IA, the Rangers doubled their lead seconds before intermission and exploded for three more goals early in the second half.
Out of the 17 players who saw action for the Marauders, 10 are new to the program. Regis returns 17 players from its 2011 team that finished the season 13-4-1.
Evenly played early on, the Marauders held a 3-1 edge in shots on goal over the first 21:19 of the game but Rangers goalkeeper Christian Nicolosi stonewalled the U-Mary attack. The Marauders attack was soon bottled up as U-Mary attempted just one shot the rest of the game.
Regis broke though on a goal by Logan Miller from 25 yards out at 25:04. Just 55 seconds before intermission, Kade Hanson doubled the Rangers lead on a shot from 20 yards out front.
The second Rangers goal started a cavalcade of scoring as Regis scored three times in a span of 4:37 early in the second half. Stephen Reed scored at 47:19 and two more goals quickly followed.

Michael Frenzel made eight saves on the day and was peppered by 15 shots on goal from the Rangers.
Miller led all players with two goals and an assist for Regis. Martin Maybin added a goal and an assist.
The Marauders complete their stint at the 2012 Peacock Soccer Classic against Metro State on Sunday, September 2, at 11 AM.
