Last week the Marauders started off with a rare afternoon game. On Thursday U-Mary took on Northwest Nazarene University. The evenly matched teams exchanged goals midway through the first half. Ryan Buccholz was assisted on the U-Mary goal by Adam Potter. The teams would remain tied until Nazarene scored a goal early in the second to put them up 2-1. Unable to answer the Marauders would go on to fall 2-1. Rounding out the week for U-Mary was their match-up with MSU-Billings. Again the two teams proved to be evenly matched. The Marauders jumped out the an early lead on a goal by Rory Pratt assisted by teammate Cam Hager. U-Mary went into the half up 1-0. MSUB answered midway into the second half with a goal of their own. Tied a 1-1 at the end of regulation the Marauders entered their second overtime game in three games. In the 95th minute U-Mary allowed a goal as they fell by a final of 2-1.


THIS WEEK: This weekend the Marauders will be back on the road. U-Mary will take on Sioux Falls (1-6, 1-3 GNAC) on Saturday. Saturday's game will be their only game of the week.

University of Sioux Falls, also new to the GNAC, is off to a tough start (1-8, 1-5 GNAC). On the season the Cougars have been out scored by a 26-7 margin. At 1.17 goals scored per game and 2.5 allowed, USF is second to last in both categories. Carrying the majority of the offensive load for the Cougars is senior F Brice Holiday. Hampered by injuries last year Holiday was named GPAC All-Conference honorable mention in his first two years for Sioux Falls. The senior F is now showing the GNAC his talent as he has scored a league leading fix goals in conference play. On the season Holiday has scored six of his teams seven goal. Sioux Falls' GK Kyle Simons has been kept busy all year. The junior GK has stopped the ninth most shots in the NCAA with 58. In 2011 the Cougars beat the Marauders 5-3 in Bismarck.

ON DECK: U-Mary will remain on the road next as they take a road-trip west. Starting out for the Marauders will by Simon Fraser University in Burnaby, British Columbia. The first time these two teams met U-Mary lost 3-2 in OT. Finishing up the weekend the Marauders will take on Western Washington in Bellingham. U-Mary was able to defeat Western Washington 2-1 in their first ever GNAC home game.
