SATURDAY: Nine University of Mary seniors will play their final home game when the Marauders host Northern Sun North Division rival Northern State University Wolves on Saturday, October 27. Kickoff is set for 2:30 PM at the Community Bowl.

Mike Wagner (Killdeer, ND). Out of the nine, only McTier, a transfer from Glendale (CA) Community College, didn't play his whole career at U-Mary.
THE RECORDS: U-Mary is 4-4 overall and in the Northern Sun and 1-3 in the North Division... Northern State is 4-4 overall and in the NSIC and 3-1 in the NSIC North.
LAST GAME: The Marauders retained the Paddle Trophy for the seventh straight season with a 23-7 home win over MSU Moorhead... On the final play of the game, the homestanding Wolves edged St. Cloud State 28-27.
LAST YEAR: U-Mary finished 5-6 overall, 4-6 in the NSIC and 3-3 in the NSIC North… NSU finished 5-6 overall, 4-6 in the NSIC and 4-2 in the NSIC North.
HEAD COACHES: U-Mary's all-time winningest head coach, Myron Schulz owns a record of 97-52 in his 14th season at the helm of the Marauders. Synonymous with Marauders football, Schulz has been a member of U-Mary's coaching staff in 22 of the program's 25 seasons. He has directed the squad to six national tournament appearances and four conference titles. His teams owned a streak of nine straight winning seasons and the Marauders are 73-34 in conference games. Since starting the transition to the NCAA in 2005, U-Mary is 42-40. The Marauders are 28-29 in Northern Sun contests... Well-known to football fans throughout North Dakota, Tom Dosch is in his third season as the Northern State head coach, where he has compiled a mark of 11-19 (2-9 in 2010, 5-6 in 2011 and 4-4 in 2012). Dosch is a graduate of Dickinson State, where he also began his coaching career. He was an assistant at the University of North Dakota before becoming the Jamestown College head coach. Dosch was an assistant at Southern Illinois University for two seasons before joining NSU in 2010.

THE MARAUDERS-WOLVES SERIES HISTORY: In a series that began in 2006, the Marauders claimed the first five meetings before the Wolves won at home on the final play of the game last year. Despite the fact NSU was virtually U-Mary's closest rival prior to Minot State University joining the Northern Sun, the first two meetings took place at the Metrodome... 2006: U-Mary captured the first contest between the two schools 20-7 as Justin Fleck scored two touchdowns while the Wolves were limited to 27 yards rushing... 2007: The Marauders cruised past the Wolves 37-13 behind two Mike Williams scores and 418 yards passing by Blair Sandy... 2008: The first meeting on a home field, with NSU getting first crack to host the game. A last-second touchdown pass from Jesse Kozak to Allen Merrill set up a walk-off overtime touchdown by
Jamal Lomax in a 34-31 Marauders win. Erik Kruse caught a school-record 13 passes for 110 yards, Lomax ran for 114 yards and Kozak passed for 298 yards... 2009: In the first game played in Bismarck, ND, Lomax scored the winning touchdown with 11 minutes left in the game and set a U-Mary single game school record when he ran for 248 yards in the win. He rushed for 146 yards in the fourth quarter alone. The game featured four lead changes and two ties. U-Mary dominated the fourth quarter, holding a 163-32 edge in yards and possessing the ball for 11:26 of the final 15 minutes... 2010: Lomax continued to torture the Wolves, rushing for 105 yards and three touchdowns.
Tyler Steffan caught 10 passes for 222 yards and one score to earn NSIC Offensive Player of the Week honors.
Craig Bagnell passed for 281 yards and three TDs. The Marauders defense intercepted four passes and limited the Wolves to 66 yards passing and 219 yards... 2011:
Josh Murray ran for 163 yards and scored three touchdowns and
Craig Bagnell threw for 232 yards and a score but Northern State scored the final 10 points of the game to win 39-36. Felipe Alfaia converted a 35 yard field goal as time expired to give the Wolves their first win over the Marauders. Jared Jacobson ran for 180 yards and three TDs and passed for another 136 yards to lead the NSU offense and Kristin James added another 139 yards for the Wolves.

QUICK LOOK AT THE NORTHERN STATE WOLVES: After opening the season with three straight losses, the Wolves are on a roll with four wins in five games. Last week Northern State edged St. Cloud State 28-27 on the final play of the game, the Wolves fist win over the Huskies since 1947. After blocking an SCSU PAT with 42 seconds left, NSU drove the field and scored on a 34 yard touchdown pass from Jared Jacobson to Mark Hanley as time expired. The Wolves extra point attempt was good and the squad is now tied for the NSIC North Division lead. Jacobson is the focal point of the offense, passing for 1,735 yards and 14 touchdown while throwing just four picks. He is second on the team in rushing with 445 yards and leads with six touchdown runs. Hanley has a receiving line of 41-565-8 as the primary outside target. Defensively Mason Thorstad has 10 tackles for loss, four sacks and two blocked kicks. Ikee Sirleaf has 8.0 TFL and four sacks. Three different players have three interceptions. The Wolves are second in the NSIC in turnover margin, taking away the ball 16 times and turning it over on nine occasions.
LAST WEEK: For the seventh straight year, the University of Mary has won the “Battle for the Paddle.” A tremendous effort by the Marauders defense combined with the return of quarterback
Craig Bagnell led U-Mary to a 23-7 victory over visiting MSU Moorhead...
John Oyloe and
Grant Singer led a defensive charge that allowed just 225 yards to the Dragons. Oyloe had three tackles for loss, two sacks and knocked down two passes. The junior defensive end from Williston, ND, also led U-Mary with 10 tackles. A sophomore linebacker, Singer had a game-high 3.5 tackles for loss. He also had a sack, recovered a fumble and made eight tackles... The Marauders opened the scoring early in the first quarter following an error by the Dragons. The MSUM center snapped the ball over the head of quarterback Jake Hodge. The first of at least three poor snaps in the game that proved costly to MSUM,
Mikey Ingemansen recovered the ball at the Dragons 12. Four plays later
Dariouse Gravely scored from two yards out for a 7-0 Marauders lead... Following a fourth down stop by Nick Giannosa and Singer on the subsequent possession by the Dragons, the Marauders took over at their own 32 yard line.
Nick Jolliffe hauled in a 5-yard scoring strike in the right corner of the end zone, making a spectacular catch on the throw from Bagnell to double U-Mary's lead to 14-0 with 3:47 left in the first quarter... The Dragons would get on the board in the second quarter when Hodge connected with Adam Jiskra from three yards out, cutting the Marauders lead to 14-7.... Immediately the Marauders responded, driving 85 yards in eight plays. Set up by receptions of 35 and 16 yards by
Tyler Steffan, Gravely ran 17 yards to finish the drive. Entering intermission U-Mary led 21-7... The Marauders defense took over in the second half, keeping the Dragons off the scoreboard. U-Mary punter
Tyler Ryan played a big role in pinning MSUM deep, placing four punts inside the 20 yard line in the second half... U-Mary closed the scoring with a safety. With the Dragons on their own 12 yard line in punt formation, the center snap sailed over the punter and through the end zone, increasing the U-Mary advantage to 23-7... Steffan caught four passes for 80 yards to pace the Marauders offense,
Evan Gross ran for 47 yards and Gravely chipped in 42 with the two scores... After missing three games due to injury, Bagnell was 15-of-26 for 189 yards, one score and one touchdown... In addition to his fumble recovery, Ingemansen also forced a fumble, had a sack and 1.5 tackles for loss... Hodge was 19-of-38 for 202 yards and a score but was sacked four times. Jiskra caught five passes for 61 yards and a score.
Marauders Football to Close Season at Alerus Center:
The final 2012 regular season football game for the University of Mary will be played at the Alerus Center in Grand Forks, ND. Originally scheduled for Crookston, MN, on November 10, the University of Minnesota, Crookton shifted the game indoors. The Alerus Center, home of the University of North Dakota football team, seats 12,283 people and features an AstroTurf Magic Carpet playing surface. Tickets will be $12 for adults, $8 for students (ages 13-18), $6 for children (6-12) and seniors (62 and over). Doors will open an hour ahead of game time and tickets will be available beginning at 10 a.m. the morning of the game. Tailgating will be allowed outside Gate 2. Fan Appreciation Day Postgame Social at MAC on SATURDAY: A football post-game social will be held in the Booster Room (Room 217) of the McDowell Activity Center on U-Mary's campus prior to the Marauders men's basketball exhibition game Saturday. Oct. 27, and is open to everyone.

Craig Bagnell returned to the lineup against MSU Moorhead and directed the Marauders to a 23-7 win. Bagnell was 15-of-26 for 189 yards, a touchdown and just one interception.
RYAN'S SONG: K/P
Tyler Ryan had another big game for the Marauders when he averaged 41.2 yards per punt on nine attempts and downed five punts inside the 20 yard line in a 23-7 win over MSU Moorhead. The only punt return for the Dragons lost four yards. Ryan also had three touchbacks on four kickoffs and all four kicks reached the end zone. For the year he is averaging 39.4 yards per punt and has downed 18 punts inside the opponent's 20 yard line. The Marauders are third in the NSIC in net punting (37.0) and opponents average just 1.8 yards/return.
STEPPING FORWARD: In his first year in a starting role, SO WR
Elby Pope (Grand Forks, ND) is second in the NSIC in pass receptions with 50. He is fifth in the conference in receiving yards with 698. Including his punt and kick return yardage plus his rushing yardage (1,051), Pope is sixth in the NSIC in all purpose yardage, averaging 131.4 yards/game.
SACK ATTACK: The Marauders lead the NSIC in sacks and are 8th in the NCAA, dropping the opposing quarterback 27 times for a loss of 218 yards. JR DE

GUSHER: A junior defensive end from oil country,
John Oyloe (Williston, ND) is having an incredibly productive season. He is leads the NSIC in sacks (9.0), fourth in tackles for loss (12.5) and second in tackles by defensive linemen (57).
BEHIND THE LINE: SO LB
Troy Guptill is 7th in the NSIC in tackles for loss with 11, including five sacks. This is the first season Guptill has played significant snaps.
MIKEY ON THE SPOT: SR LB
Mikey Ingemansen leads the NSIC in fumbles recovered with three. A big play performer, Ingemansen is 8th in the NSIC in sacks with 4.0. He also has seven tackles for loss and has forced two fumbles.
AIR IT OUT: The Marauders passing attack is second in the NSIC and 28th in the NCAA with an average of 280.8 yards per game. U-Mary quarterbacks have thrown 20 touchdowns and 17 interceptions in eight games.
PLAYS WELL WITH OTHERS: The Marauders passing game is an all-inclusive attack. Seven different players have 11 or more catches. Seven have caught a pass for 28 or more yards. Seven also have caught scoring passes and five have two or more touchdown receptions.
BIG HITTER: JR S
Scott Maldonado has made a major impact on the Marauders defense, hitting double digit stops in three of eight games. The NSIC defensive player of the week after his first game at U-Mary, Maldonado is 9th in the conference and leads the Marauders in tackles with 74 (34 solo). Maldonado has two tackles for loss, a sack, an interception, recovered a fumble and has broken up five passes. On special teams he has blocked a field goal and a punt, which was returned for a touchdown
STEFFAN CLIMBS THE CHARTS: All-American WR
Tyler Steffan is climbing up the career record charts for the Marauders. After setting a single-season touchdown reception record last season after pulling in 17 scoring strike, Steffan is now second all-time at U-Mary in touchdown receptions (27), third in receptions (151), third in receiving yardage (2,372) and fifth in career touchdowns (27).
