Box Score Bismarck, N.D. – With winds gusting up to 60 miles per hour, the University of Mary played #9 Seattle Pacific to a 1-1 tie.
The Marauders had the advantage in the first half with the wind at their back. U-Mary took advantage of the wind as they controlled the tempo of the opening period. The Marauders out shot the Falcons 15-6 in the first, but was unable to connect. It was evident that both teams were adjusting to the elements, as the game was tied 1-1 at half.
With the Marauders failing to take advantage of the wind in the first half, it looked as though U-Mary would need to lean heavily on their defense. The Marauders defense answered the call, as they were able to keep the Falcons off the board early on despite several good opportunities. In the 60th minute, U-Mary's leading scorer,

Alex Boyes to put them up 1-0.
In the 77th Seattle Pacific (9-1-4, 5-1-4 GNAC) put the ball in the net from 10 yards out. The officials gathered and the Falcons were called offsides nullifying the goal. With less than five minutes remaining in the game, it looked like the Marauders were on their way to an upset. Michael Frenzel was able to tip the ball, but unable to control the shot as SPU tied the game at 1-1 and sent the game into overtime.
U-Mary had the wind in overtime and was in good position to finish the upset. However, the Marauders were only able to manage one shot on frame. With no one scoring in the first regulation, the game headed into double overtime. With the wind, SPU controlled the ball in the final period and out shot U-Mary 3-0. The Marauders were able to hold off the Falcons and the game ended in a 1-1 tie.
Frenzel recorded a season-high 12 saves on the night.
With the tie the Marauders move to 3-8-3 overall and 2-6-2 in the GNAC. U-Mary will be back in action on Saturday as they take on Saint Martin's University at Dacotah Centennial Field in Mandan at 6 p.m.
