Men's Soccer Falls to Western Washington

Box Score Bellingham, Wash. — Coming off of a tough loss against Simon Fraser, U-Mary was looking to bounce back. Unfortunately for the Marauders, the Western Washington Vikings had another idea as they cruised to a 4-0 win.

Losing the first meeting, Western Washington (5-6-2, 3-4-2. GNAC) was determined not to suffer the same fate. With a goal in the 15th minute, the Vikings jumped out to an early lead and never looked back.

Less than five minutes later WWU scored their second goal of the night on a penalty kick to take a 2-0 lead. Western Washington would go on to score two more goals in the half on their way to a 4-0 halftime lead.

Down big at half, the Marauders could have given up. But U-Mary refused to lay down as they held WWU scoreless in the second half. The Marauders were never able to get their offense going though, as they were unable to score a goal in the second half.

U-Mary actually outshot Western Washington on the night 20-16. The Vikings, however, had the edge in shots on net 10-7.

With the loss the Marauders fall to 3-8-2 on the season and 2-6-1 in the GNAC. U-Mary will be back in action Thursday, as they take on #9 Seattle Pacific at the Community Bowl at 7 p.m.
