Bismarck, ND – As the wins continue to pile up, the University of Mary women's basketball team continues to receive attention in the national polls. For a second straight week, the Marauders earned votes in the USA Today ESPN Division II Top 25 Women's Basketball Coaches Poll. U-Mary again registered four votes in the poll released January 10, 2012.
The Marauders are currently riding a seven game winning streak, the longest for U-Mary since posting eight straight wins during the 2004-05 season. The squad is 11-3 overall and tied for second in the Northern Sun with a mark of 8-2 in conference play.
Last week was the first time in program history U-Mary earned votes in the USA Today ESPN Division II Top 25 poll. Prior to then, the last time the U-Mary women appeared in a national poll was March 1, 2005, when the Marauders ranked fourth in the final NAIA Division II ratings of the 2004-05 season. U-Mary began the transition to NCAA Division II the following season.
After playing four home games in seven days, the Marauders return to the road for a Northern Sun contest at Southwest Minnesota State University on Friday, January 13.
