Linda Murray paced the University of Mary to its second win in less than 18 hours as the Marauders shut down Northwood University 61-43. U-Mary steamrolled Johnson and Wales Saturday night before defeating the Seahawks early Sunday afternoon.
A junior forward from Fresno, CA, Murray scored 11 points and pulled down 10 rebounds. She went 4-of-6 from the field and made all three free throw attempts in just 22 minues.
Three other Marauders also hit for double digits. Ali Collins led the Marauders with 12 points and chipped in six rebounds and four assists. Kayla Schmidt knocked down three treys, scored 11 points for the second straight night and led U-Mary with five assists. Shaunna Knife had 10 points, seven rebounds and blocked two shots.
Off the bench, Kaitlyn Haag led all players with 12 rebounds. She also had eight points. The Marauders held a huge 55-27 advantage on the boards.
Samantha Nudelman led the Seahawks with 13 points and seven rebounds. Yeseme Harris scored 12 points and Keishla Rivera 11.
Both teams struggled offensively. Northwood made just 31 per cent of its shots and U-Mary made just 32.9 per cent of its attempts from the field.
U-Mary improves to 2-1 with the win and NU drops to 2-3.
After this two-game swing to Florida, the Marauders next play at Minot State on November 23.
