Transferring to the University of Mary from Gillette College in Wyoming… Richard was a member of Gillette College who was ranked as high as 6th in the country NJCAA Division I Basketball… Averaged 10.2 ppg, 4.2 rpg and shot 58.7 percent from the floor as a sophomore… in his freshman year Gillette College was the Region IX regular season and conference tournament champions. The Pronghorns finished in the Sweet 16 at the NJCAA Division I National Tournament in 2017... Brown averaged 5.5 points and 3.8 rebounds per game as a freshman and made 67.7 percent of his field goal attempts… Graduated from Lutheran South High School in Houston, Texas.
 
“Richard was a part of a very successful junior college program that I am very familiar with,” said Marauders head coach Joe Kittell, who worked at Gillette College under Shawn Neary for three seasons. “He was key part to their team’s success the last two seasons and started every game this season. Richard brings much needed size and athleticism at the forward position.”
