Alex qualified for the NSIC Indoor Conference Championship Meet in the 5,000m
 
2019-20 (Sophomore)
In his first season as a Marauder, de la Maza placed 33rd at the NSIC Conference Championship and placed 87th at the NCAA Division II Central Region Championship. He ran a personal best of 33:02 in the 10k distance 
 
PRIOR TO UMARY
Previously attended the University of St. Thomas in Houston, Texas and was an individual qualifier for the 2018 NAIA National Cross Country Championships. De la Maza recorded a personal best of 26:05 for 8k during his time at St. Thomas.
 
High School
Attended Frassati Catholic High School in Spring, Texas. Was part of Frassati's second graduating class. Winner of the 2017 TAPPS 3A State Cross Country Championship his senior year. A two-time TAPPS 3A track and field state champion in the 3200m and 1600m. Won the TAPPS 2A 3200m title during his junior year. High School personal records include 15:56 in the 5k, 9:45 in the 3200m, and 4:34 in the 1600m.

Alex de la Maza is currently pursuing a major in Theology and Communications at the University of Mary. He has two younger sisters and is originally from Monterrey, Mexico.
