As a redshirt, Payton posted a 10-8 record at 157 pounds with four pins and one techfall. Payton placed 5^th at the DWU Open, 2^nd at the Dragon Open, and 6^th at the North Country Open.

PRIOR TO UMARY
Son of Nicki and Buck Hume, Payton attended Flathead HS in Montana. During his high school career he was a two-time academic all-state selection, and competed in wrestling, football, golf and tennis. Payton earned 154 career wins, 97 pins, and made two state finals, winning a MHSA state championship in 2018. He shared in success with his team as a two-time Team State Champion. Payton was also a two-time Folkstyle, Freestyle medalist and one-time Greco-Roman medalist at the Vegas Open. He was also a four-time AAU All-American. Payton will study mathematics at the University of Mary.
