PRIOR TO UMARY
A three-sport athlete and team captain in baseball, basketball and football at Cambridge Isanti High School, Luke Johnson will join older brother
Jake Johnson on the Marauders baseball team at the University of Mary next fall. Luke Johnson earned honorable mention honors in baseball last spring after recording a 2.43 ERA and 53 strikeouts in 40.3 innings for the Bluejackets. He also earned all-conference honors in basketball as a junior.

Luke is the son of Theresa and Scott Johnson and currently undecided on a major at the University of Mary.

"Getting Luke early was important for us," said Marauders head coach
Joel Barta. "We knew that we wanted to be able to lock up some key pieces and Luke is definitely one of them. For him to have a chance to pitch alongside his older brother is going to be something special. We know the value we have in Jake, but today is about Luke. Luke is an imposing presence on the mound at 6-6 and 250 pounds. He was being recruited heavily for football but his heart was on the mound and we are grateful that was the case."
Â
"We have a chance to put a serious stamp on our early recruiting class but right now we know that we have multiple scenarios that we cannot yet discuss," said Marauders head baseball coach
Joel Barta. "At the end of our signing period we will be able to discuss our full recruiting class as the other NLI's come in. This is a great time to be a Marauder. Knowing that we are moving into our new indoor facility at the end of the month is a big step in our offseason training and is another tool to help us build our program."

The Marauders open the 2017 season at Saint Mary's University in San Antonio, TX, on Feb. 25-26.
