MANDAN, ND – In a meeting between a pair of nationally-ranked teams, #9 Drury University got the best of #14 University of Mary in the first meeting between the two programs. Scoring once in both the first and third periods and two times in the second, the visiting Panthers edged the Marauders 4-1.
In an evenly matched first period with both teams credited with eight shots apiece, the Panthers scored the lone goal just 3:59 into the opening 20 minutes to take a 1-0 lead at the first intermission. UMary was whistled for a major penalty with just under four minutes left in the first but were able to skate it off with no damage to the scoreboard.
Drury struck for its second goal of the night at 5:17 of the second before
Alex Senf scored for the Marauders for a second straight game. Slicing down the slot, Senf fired a backhand that was turned aside by Panthers goaltender Jozef Kuchaslo. Senf quickly readjusted and slammed home the rebound at 10:24 to cut the UMary deficit to 2-1.

Joe Gronholz picked up the assists on the goal by Senf.
Less than two minutes later Drury tallied again to regain its two goal advantage. A third period goal secured the win for the Panthers.
UMary fired off 30 shots in game. Drury was credited with 37. Both teams were whistled for two penalties and finished 0-for-2 on the power play.
Caleb Cross finished the game with 33 saves for UMary. Kuchaslo turned aside 29 shots.
The Marauders are 1-1-0-0-0-0 (W-L-OTL-T-SOW-SOL) on the season. The Panthers are 5-0-0-0-0-0.
The Marauders and the Panthers wrap up their weekend series Sunday, September 21, with a 2 pm game at the Starion Sports Center Schwan Cadillac Rink.
