UMary travels to Wisconsin for Maverick/Golden Bear Fall Brawl

HUDSON, WI – The University of Mary men's golf team will journey to Wisconsin for the Maverick/Golden Bear Fall Brawl hosted by Minnesota State University and Concordia University, St. Paul. The tournament will take place Monday and Tuesday, Sept. 15 and 16, from the Troy Burne Golf Course.

All NSIC teams but Crookston will be competing at the Fall Brawl. Live results can be found here.

LAST TIME OUT
The Marauders made their season debut at the Bemidji State Invitational, placing 6th, three spots higher than the same tournament last year. UMary passed both Minot State and Manitoba in the standings on the second day.

Individually, all four scorers for UMary finished in the 20th-30th range. Quinn Breidenbach led the way followed by Evan Booth, Lucas Greenlun, and Lucas Schoepp all separated by at most 2 strokes.

LAST TIME IN HUDSON
The Marauders placed 9th at the Maverick/Golden Bear Fall Brawl in 2024. Gavin Argent had an impressive 8th-place finish to lead the way individually. Then-newcomers Breidenbach, Greenlun, and Schoepp rounded out the scoring.

LOOKING BACK
UMary is coming off its most successful season since 2007, finishing 6th at the NSIC Championships. Junior Evan Booth was brilliant, finishing in sixth place overall and one stroke away from All-Tournament honors. As a result, Booth was named the Marauders' NSIC Athlete to Watch for this season.

PRESEASON POLL
UMary was picked to finish 9th in the NSIC Preseason Coaches Poll. The team's personnel is largely consistent with last years, with the main difference being All-NSIC golfer Gavin Argent moving to an assistant coaching role. Argent had five top-5 finishes last season and led the scoring efforts for the Marauders throughout the season.

The other four NSIC point scorers (Booth, Quinn Breidenbach, Lucas Greenlun, and Aiden Knodel) are back this season.

NEW FACES
The Marauders added five freshman to bring the roster's total players to 19. Payton Hiller, Ryker Landers, Zach Skarperud, Hunter Steeves, and David Thomson are all set to compete collegiately for the first time.
