Marauders finish program-best 3rd place in 2023-24 NSIC All-Sports standings

BURNSVILLE, MN – The University of Mary finished a program-best third place in the final Northern Sun All-Sports standings for 2023-24. UMary made one final surge this spring behind the power of a pair of runner-up finishes to make Marauders history in the 15-school league.

The Marauders previous best finish in the NSIC All-Sports standings was 4th place the last two seasons (2021-22, 2022-23).

"This is an exciting day for Marauders Athletics," said Cooper Jones, Executive Director of Intercollegiate Athletics at the University of Mary.  "This recognition of our athletic achievements within the NSIC is a testament to our hard-working coaches and staff, but most of all the amazing 450 scholar-athletes on UMary's campus.

"To place 3rd in the NSIC All-Sports Award speaks to the depth and breadth of our overall athletics program, and the broad-based success we witnessed this year was truly impressive. Doing this in one of the most-competitive, if not the most-competitive, conferences in all of Division II sports speaks volumes to the great work and significant progress we're currently making at UMary."

UMary made a steady climb all season. After sitting 8th following the fall, the Marauders climbed to 5th after the winter sports season before moving further up the charts after a strong spring.

Additionally the Marauders finished 3rd in the women's all-sports standings and 7th on the men's side.

Both the UMary women's tennis team and the women's outdoor track & field team claimed 2nd place finishes in the NSIC this spring. Baseball, women's golf and men's track & field placed 7th, men's golf finished 8th and softball 15th.

During the 2023-24 winter sports season, the Marauders finished 2nd in women's basketball, 2nd in women's indoor track & field, 4th in wrestling, 6th in men's indoor track & field, 6th in women's swimming & diving and 15th in men's basketball.

During the 2023 fall sports season the Marauders placed 3rd in the NSIC in women's cross country, 4th in women's soccer, 6th in men's cross country, 10th in football and 12th in volleyball.
