SIOUX FALLS, SD – A shorthanded University of Mary tennis team was overmatched by #26 Augustana University as they fell 7-0 on the road.
The contest kicked off with UMary (5-6, 4-2 NSIC) dropping three doubles matches to AU (13-3, 7-0 NSIC), as the Vikings earned one team point.
The team of
Chloe Chong and
Ilona Freitag lost 6-4 in a tight contest to Flo Hadjigeorgiou and Aleksandr Kistanova in #1 doubles.
Hala Hossam Awad and
Maria Estinvil were defeated 6-4 in #2 doubles to Senem Ocal and Smilte Bakyte. The Marauders forfeited #3 doubles to the Vikings.
Chloe Chong dropped #1 singles 6-1 6-0 to Flo Hadjigeorgiou.
Hala Hossam Awad lost in #2 singles to Mia Garcia 6-1, 6-1.
Ilona Freitag battled hard but lost to Aleksandr Kistanova 6-4, 6-4 in #3 singles.
Emily Needham competed in #4 singles for the first time this season as she fell 6-3, 6-2 to Gabriela Jancikova.
Luba Moyo lost 6-0, 6-0 to Margarita Chouliara in #5 singles.
UMary forfeited #6 singles to AU.
