MANDAN, ND – A ferocious rally saw the University of Mary tennis team take down the University of Minnesota Crookston 5-2 in their second home match of the season.
The contest opened with UMC (9-4, 4-4 NSIC) just edging out UMary (6-6, 5-2 NSIC) 2-1 in doubles competition to earn one team point.

Ilona Freitag dominated in #1 doubles, defeating Daniela de Lucas Rivera and Ariadna Solis Guals 6-0.
Hala Hossam Awad and
Maria Estinvil fell 6-4 in #2 doubles to Madeleine Schneider and Blaike Zander.
Emily Needham and
Luba Moyo dropped #3 doubles 7-6 to Nadia Cases Mundet and Kavya Singh.
Chloe Chong showed grit by coming back to defeat Madeleine Schneider 2-6, 6-3, 6-1 in #1 singles.
Hala Hossam Awad was outstanding in #2 singles, defeating Daniela de Lucas Rivera 6-0, 6-0.
Ilona Freitag showcased her skills by defeating Ariadna Solis Guals 6-4, 6-0 in #3 singles.
Maria Estinvil won an exciting contest in #4 singles, defeating Blaike Zander 6-4, 7-6.
Emily Needham rallied to defeat Nadia Cases Mundet 4-6, 6-2, 6-2 in #5 singles.
Luba Moyo lost a back-and-forth battle to Kavya Singh 6-7, 6-2, 10-4 in #6 singles.
