ORLANDO, FL – The University of Mary tennis team finished up their Florida spring break games, falling 6-1 to NCAA Division I opponent Bowling Green State University.
Hala Hossam Awad shined for the Marauders as she took down Hannah Neuman 7-6, 6-4 in #2 singles.
The competition kicked off with BG (5-4 overall) defeating UMary (4-3, 3-0 NSIC) 3-0 in doubles competition, giving them one team point. The team of
Chloe Chong and
Ilona Freitag was defeated 6-3 by Hannah Neuman and Lucy Furness in #1 doubles.
Hala Hossam Awad and
Maria Estinvil lost 6-4 in # 2 doubles to Isabella Baker and Letcia Fonseca.
Emily Needham and
Luba Moyo fell in #3 doubles to Ionna Tsadari and Eloise Saraty 6-2.
Chloe Chong came up short against Lucy Furness 6-4, 6-0 in #1 singles.
Ilona Freitag battled hard but fell 6-4, 6-3 in #3 singles to Isabella Baker.
Maria Estinvil lost 6-3, 6-3 to Leticia Fonseca in #4 singles.
Emily Needham was defeated by Tia Clemens 6-4, 6-2 in #5 singles.
Luba Moyo fell in #6 singles 6-1, 6-3 to Brynn Chaffee.
