ORLANDO, FL – Kicking off their spring break matches, the University of Mary tennis team battled hard but fell 7-0 to #23 University of Tampa.
The contest started with UT (4-2) defeating UMary (3-1, 3-0 NSIC) 3-0 in doubles competition, giving them one team point.
Chloe Chong and
Ilona Freitag lost 6-2 to Julie Ball and Victoria Sanchez in #1 doubles.
Hala Hossam Awad and
Maria Estinvil competed well but fell 6-4 to Nicole Cierniak and Kristina Miletic in #2 doubles.
Emily Needham and
Luba Moyo lost 6-0 to Anine Wilberg and Savannah Williams in #3 doubles.
Chloe Chong was defeated in #1 singles by Julie Ball 6-0, 6-1.
Hala Hossam Awad went back and forth with Savannah Williams in #2 singles but fell 6-2, 4-6, 10-5.
In #3 singles,
Ilona Freitag lost 6-1, 6-2 to Nicole Cierniak.
Maria Estinvil was unable to overcome losing a close first set and was defeated by Kristina Miletic 7-6, 6-3.
Emily Needham put up a battle against Kristina Miletic but came out on the losing end in #5 singles 4-6, 6-2, 10-6.
Luba Moyo was defeated by Anine Wilberg 6-1, 6-0 in #6 singles.
