BISMARCK, MN – In the University of Mary tennis team's home opener, the Marauders picked up an exciting 6-1 conference win over Minnesota State University Moorhead.
The event opened with UMary (3-0, 3-0 NSIC) taking down MSU Moorhead (2-2, 1-2 NSIC) in doubles competition, giving them one team point.
Chloe Chong and
Ilona Freitag fell 6-4 to Luzmary Castillo and Shalyn Johnson in #1 doubles.
Hala Hossam Awad and
Maria Estinvil shut out Tiannah Gu and Madison Bell 6-0 in #2 doubles.
Emily Needham and
Luba Moyo won 6-1 over Claire Nemmers and Lakia Manska in #3 doubles.
Hala Hossam Awad put on a show in #2 singles as she defeated Johnson 6-2, 6-0.
Ilona Freitag took down #3 singles, defeating Gu by a score of 7-5, 6-1.
Maria Estinvil stays undefeated in #4 singles, earning a 7-6, 6-3 win over Bell.
Emily Needham dominated in #5 singles as she defeated Nemmers 6-0, 6-4.
Luba Moyo defeated Isabela Flores 6-2, 6-3 in #6 singles.
Chloe Chong fought hard in #1 singles but ultimately fell short to Castillio, losing 6-3, 1-6, 12-10 in an exciting back-and-forth contest.
