MANHEIM, PA –The University of Mary wrestling team jumps to #12 in the nation in the latest National Wrestling Coaches Association Division II Men's Coaches Poll. The Marauders have six wrestlers ranked nationally by the NWCA.
Reece Barnhardt remains at #5 in the 133-pound weight class. Barnhardt is riding a ten-match winning streak, including a win over Parkside's #7 Matthew Chi.
Luke Tweeton jumps to #7 at 285 pounds. Tweeton is the highest-ranked heavyweight in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference. The senior is on a seven-match winning streak, including a victory over Minot State University's #8 Jake Swirple.
Matthew Kaylor comes in at #7 in the 197-pound weight class. Kaylor has won four out of his last five matchups, two by pinfall and one by technical fall.
Braydon Huber moves up to #8 in the rankings at 157 pounds. Huber earned a huge victory on February 2 as he defeated Northern State University's #9 Devin Bahr by a 4-2 decision.
Wyatt Lidberg bumps up to #9 in the 184-pound weight class. Lidberg is on a five-match winning streak, including two by technical fall.
Max Bruss places #9 in the 174-pound weight class. Bruss earned a pinfall victory over MSU Moorhead's Wayne Mellon at the 1:50 mark in his final home match in his UMary career.
The Marauders roster boasts four All-Americans and six national qualifiers. Last season, UMary finished 13th at the NCAA championships and 3rd in the Northern Sun standings while sending four wrestlers to nationals, all program bests.
The Marauders next competition is the NCAA DII Super Regional V hosted in Minot, ND, on March 2 at 10 am. UMary will send ten wrestlers to compete in the tournament, with the top three wrestlers in each weight class advancing to the NCAA Division II National Championships.
