BURNSVILLE, MN - As the University of Mary's Women's Golf team gears up for the upcoming season, there's an air of excitement and determination among the players and coaching staff. Head Coach Marion Hernandez's focus on creating a nurturing environment has been instrumental in pushing the team to new heights. The team's dedication to growth and challenge has provided positive results, evident in the consistent improvement they've shown year after year.

Reflecting on the progress made, Coach Hernandez proudly states, "We have set program bests each year and continue to trend upward. I'm excited to see where we go from here!" 

Standout Carrie Carmichael has embodied this commitment to excellence as she was named the Marauders Women's Golfer to Watch by the Northern Sun. Hailing from Williston, ND, Carmichael made an impressive debut, earning 2023 All-Northern Sun women's golf honors as a second-team selection.

Carmichael's impact extended beyond All-Conference selections. Throughout the season, she consistently delivered standout performances, recording some of the team's lowest rounds. With an average round score of 81.9, The sophomore's prowess on the course has positioned her as a key asset to the team's success.

"Carrie has just scratched the surface of her potential. She has sheer determination, tenacity, and zest that are reflected on the course and in her academic studies. We are looking forward to seeing what she can do this coming year."

Last season's achievements are even more remarkable considering the Marauders' recent return to NCAA and NSIC competition. Entering their fourth year as a reinstated program, UMary was picked to finish 8th in the NSIC's preseason poll. As the new season approaches, all eyes are on the University of Mary's golf team as they continue their upward trajectory in collegiate golf. 

The UMary Women's and Men's Golf teams will begin their seasons at the Tracy Lane Memorial Invitational hosted by Bemidji State on September 11-12. The Marauders will tee off from the Town and Country Club in Bemidji, MN.
