MANDAN, ND – The second University of Mary baseball home series of the season has undergone slight alterations to start time and location when the Marauders host the University of Minnesota Crookston on Wednesday, April 19. First pitch in the Northern Sun doubleheader is pushed up to 9:30 am at Veterans Memorial Ballpark in Mandan, ND.
This is the second straight home series for the Marauders. UMary's weekend series was also played at Veterans Memorial Ballpark, which is one of the host sites for the 2023 Northern Sun conference championships along with Bismarck's Municipal Ballpark on May 10-14.
The Marauders tied the team single season home run record when
Cal James hit UMary's 51
st round tripper of the season on Monday, equaling the team mark set last season.
Several Marauders are in pursuit of individual records this season also.
Derek Shoen is in the top five in several career categories:
- Derek Shoen owns 35 career home runs with the Marauders and is second all-time at UMary. Tyler Liffrig is the Marauders career record-holder with 39 (2007-10)
- Shoen is 3rd all-time in RBIs (122). Liffrig and Jeff Wedul are tied for most career RBIs with 141 each.
- Shoen is tied for 5th in doubles (34) with Andy Leer
- 6th in runs scored (119) behind Andy Leer (132), Jeff Wedul (130), Tyler Liffrig (126) and teammate Cal James (121).
Cal James has reached the top five in several categories also:
- Cal James is second in career doubles with 42. Tyler Liffrig tops the list (44).
- James is 4th all-time in RBIs behind Liffrig (141), Jeff Wedul (141) and Derek Shoen (122).
- James is 3rd in career hits with 176. Andy Leer tops the list with 189, followed by Michael Feldman (186).
- James is 5th all-time in runs scored with 121. Shoen is 6th with 119. Leer is the all-time leader in runs scored with 132, followed by Jeff Wedul (130), Tyler Liffrig (126) and Feldman (124).
Jonathan Draheim is climbing the all-time leaderboard at UMary in several categories. The senior righthander is:
- Tied for 1st in most career starts with Nicholas Stobbe (37)
- 2nd in career wins with 14, one behind Ryan Astle (15)
- Tied for 2nd in career strikeouts at 159 with McKeon Meyhoff (Jake Johnson 1st with 177)
- 3rd in complete games with nine (Ryan Astle with 11 and Matt Medeiros leads with 13)
- 3rd in innings pitched with 207 (Nicholas Stobbe first with 225.2 and McKeon Meyhoff 2nd with 221.1)
- 2nd in shutouts with two, one behind career totals of three by Ryan Astle and Dale Dingmann.
